NARS Haul and MICHAEL Michael Kors Tristan Tote Review

Stopped by the mall yesterday after the hike to take a closer look at the MICHAEL Michael Kors Tristan tote in Bordeaux and hopefully bring it home with me.  I’ve been obsessing over the MK Tristan tote for the past week and thought I finally found my dream red bag!  I was sadly disappointed once I saw the bag in person.

First of all I noticed that it’s smaller than I had hoped.  In my mind, I thought this would be my Fall/Winter go-to bag and also one I could use to carry around my laptop.  I may have been able to squeeze my laptop in but then the tote would have been perfectly rectangular and lose its slouchy look.

I also noticed that the color of the bag, while described as Bordeaux (a wine red), looked more brown-red and duller than in the photo on their site.

And topping off my disappointment was the quality of the gold hardware felt much cheaper than my other MK bags. I was clicking my nails against it and it felt more like plastic than metal.  I guess it does make the bag itself lighter but it doesn’t have that same luxurious feel as their other bags.

I wasn’t about to cough up nearly $500 on a bag that I wasn’t in love with so I sadly left it at the Michael Kors store… and moved on to Nordstrom. :]

The NARS counter at Nordstrom was offering a special gift with purchase of $100 and Hubs of course said that we needed to get that gift, haha.  So I decided to pick up a few more blushes to try and a new lippie.

So the three NARS blushes that I picked up are Exhibit A, Sin and Lovejoy. I’m so excited to try them out this week!  I also picked up NARS velvet gloss lip pencil in Baroque.  I asked the NARS makeup artist to suggest a good lip color for me for the Fall and this is what we ended up deciding on.

The small black satchel on the left is the gift with purchase that I received. I was initially a bit disappointed because the NARS makeup artist told me that it was a cute NARS “bag” so in my head I was thinking a reusable makeup bag.  But nope, it’s more like a drawstring tote I most likely won’t use again. Maybe I’m still feeling a bit Negative Nancy after my MK disappointment… haha.  Anyway, the contents of the NARS gift with purchase was actually quite nice.  Here’s what’s included!
