28th Birthday Recap

Hey everyone and happy Monday!

I just wanted to stop by and share my fun birthday weekend with you!  I warn you this is a pretty lengthy post just about my personal life so if you’re here for some beauty-loving, you’ll probably want to skip this post. icon smile 28th Birthday Recap

I told you on Friday, Hubs and I celebrated my birthday on Thursday with a nice spa treatment, dinner and Cirque Du  Soleil – Ama Luna.

Truce Spa Review-  The Truce Spa is located inside the Bellevue Westin Hotel.  The atmosphere is very peaceful, with it’s dim lighting and zen decor.  My spa package included a facial, body scrub and shellac manicure.  The body scrub was heavenly!  I could feel my skin tingling from the warm exfoliation and felt super relaxed.  After I was scrubbed down I went to take a shower and even their showers were luxurious. I especially loved their body wash- it smelled so good!  Then I came back into my massage room for the facial. I had my pores extracted which was torture. It hurt so bad, I had tears in my eyes.  But afterwards the facial massage was nice and the lotions that were used smelled like yummy strawberries.  I also had my body lotioned down before I got changed and had my nails done.  So here are my thoughts: The body scrub was awesome and I would love to do that again.  I’m kind of iffy on the facial.  My pores do look a lot cleaner now but I still have red marks on my nose and it’s been 4-5 days now.  My skin is also still very sensitive around that area when I wash my face.  Since this is my first extraction I’m not sure if this is normal or not… The Shellac is definitely a no-go at Truce Spa.  The girl didn’t do a very good job painting my entire nail and honestly the polish coating is not even all around.

Cirque Du  Soleil – Ama Luna was so much fun!  It took me a long time to decide if I wanted popcorn or not but seeing all the other people happily munching on their popcorn made up my mind.  I’m so glad we got it!  Not only did we have a ton of fun entertaining ourselves by seeing how much popcorn we could pick up with our tongues (TMI?), later on the cast members would swing by and snatch some popcorn from us during the performance. Oh but I was so happy that I brought my own drink!  Their sodas were $5-6 while I picked mine up from the store for just $1!  Yay for saving money!   Hubs got us front row seats which was pretty awesome since the performers were walking around right in front of us but actually the tent wasn’t too big so I think any seat would have had a good view!  I also thought that we’d be cold inside the tent but it was heated to a comfortable temperature.  Overall, the performance was amazing and jaw-dropping. I’d definitely go again to a different Cirque Du Soleil show!

So moving on to Saturday- Hubs and I had brunch with our block party at Indigo. Their Chicken and Waffles was bomb!  Afterwards the plan was to get an oil change, go home and rest for a bit and then go out to watch the movie Warm Bodies.  Well, everything went smoothly until we got home after the oil change.  I stepped out of the car in the garage and I heard footsteps upstairs!  It freaked me out but I was mentally rationalizing that it could be that I heard the neighbors next door.  I slowly went up the stairs, prepared for an intruder to attack me from around the corner when I saw our dining room nicely decorated with balloons everywhere!  My first thought was “When did Hubs have time to decorate??” and then the second thought was “OK prepare for a loud SURPRISE”… but nothing happened.  I quickly discovered my bestie in the corner laughing and asking Hubs why we were here so early!  HAHA!  We ended up walking in on my bestie decorating for my surprise party that was planned for a few hours later! It was really funny and we had some good laughs by surprising my guests by having me pop out and yell surprise at them when they arrived! icon razz 28th Birthday Recap  It was an awesome and memorable “surprise” birthday party!  Thanks Hubs and Jennifer!

Yesterday was spent resting, having our family birthday dinner celebration, then going to our friends’ house for the season premiere of Walking Dead.  Did you find the episode to be a bit blah for a premiere?  I guess my expectations were too high! Anyway, we had a great time with our lovely friends.

Hubs and I must have been having too much fun over the weekend because now we’re both at home super sick with the cold (hopefully not flu).  Fingers-crossed that we’ll be ok by Valentine’s Day because I’d hate for us to be sick 2 years in a row!!

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share my weekend with you!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend too that did not involve getting sick!

Wishing you a wonderful Monday!

  • What a great weekend! For facials with extractions (especially your first time) your face is always worse before it’s better I’m afraid, but the results do last awhile. My hubby and I went to all of the Cirque du Soleil shows in Vegas over the years, but only to a couple here in the NW. My daughter’s school did a trapeze arts program for 6 weeks and got to see some of the performers of Ama Luna practicing and rehearsing and we may go see them perform too.

  • Hey Rose! Thanks for letting me know. I’m not sure if I’m willing to spend the money on getting monthly facials. For now I’ve been much more diligent about exfoliating and using at-home masks. :)
