How many of you out there love purple eyeshadows? I sure do! I love all ranges of purple shades from red-based to blue. In the past I stuck more towards blue undertone shades but lately I’ve been finding myself reaching for more and more red-based purples. Today I have on an eyeshadow that I’ve rarely used- so rare in fact it sat in my “I hardly ever use these” eyeshadow palette until now. It’s MAC eyeshadow, Nocturnelle.
Boy have I been missing out! MAC Nocturnelle is a beautiful pinked-up chrome purple with a frost finish. I probably felt it was unwearable before because of it’s red undertone but I’m really loving it now and find it easy to wear.
I don’t have a dupe in my collection either. Here’s my MAC Nocturnelle swatch along with other eyeshadows that are some-what similar.
MAC Nocturnelle definitely has the most pink tone to it and is quite frosty while Urban Decay Rockstar is more of dirty purple with a touch of steel. Maybelline Pomegranate punk leans more brick with silver sparkles while MAC Trax is a muted purple with a hint more blue undertone with copper shimmer.
This simple look was created by applying Nocturnelle eyeshadow on the crease and blending it out with MAC Kid eyeshadow. I used MAC Brule to highlight under my brows and MAC Duck eyeliner smudged out with MAC Mystery eyeshadow on both top and bottom lash lines. Simple-pimple!
And in case you wanted to create the rest of this look, I applied Covergirl Lash Perfection mascara on my lashes, MAC Well-dressed blush on my cheeks and on my lips I have on MAC Lazy Day lipstick topped with Buxom Claire gloss. I also filled in my brows with MAC Concrete eyeshadow. Since I wanted the attention to be mostly on the eyes, I chose very light, neutral shades for the rest of the face.
MAC Nocturnelle blends very well and has no fall-out. It has medium pigmentation so you can build up the color with more layers of the eyeshadow. I applied a good amount on my lids with a flat shader brush and then blended it out with my stiff blending brush.
It’s pretty wearable, right? I feel like the shade isn’t too bright or crazy so you could wear it to most work places and definitely to school. I think it’s a great way to bring attention to your eyes without over-doing it. And bonus, this look only take 5 minutes to complete! :]
And I’m happy to tell you that MAC Nocturnelle has been promoted from my “I hardly ever use these” eyeshadow palette to my “I use these quite often” eyeshadow palette! Haha
This week is really flying by. I can’t believe it’s already Thursday! And you know what that means… YAY FRIDAY!
Wishing you all a love-filled evening!
