Slowly collecting for my very first contest giveaway…

I promise it’s coming soon.  I just need to decide what prizes I would like to give away for my very first contest.  Can’t wait?  Here is one prize that I have purchased today and is waiting for a new home.

Stila Smokey Eye Palette

I just got home so I was too lazy to take my own picture (picture taken from Sephora.com).  The shadows are all so very pretty and very practical.  I liked it so much that I bought two! One for me, one for you! … Or maybe none for me, two for you?  I’ll keep looking around to see what other awesome prizes I can find and keep you updated. Thanks for stopping by! <3

*Update on NARS Cairo*

Ah, it was too good to be true.  I thought that maybe Cairo could become my perfect go-to eyeshadow but I was wrong.  It is a LOT lighter on my eyes than I anticipated and is quite boring against my skin tone.  It just looks like a dull tan/light brown color.  I think I’ll be exchanging this soon.  :(

Shopping with my Mama <3

While I had family staying with me from out of town, I used my parents’ bathroom a few times to ease the traffic in my own bathroom.  I was looking around my mama’s bathroom counter top and noticed the vast difference in our makeup collection.  While I have enough eyeshadows to last me years, she has one Revlon eyeshadow duo that is nearly used up.  Some of her other products are my products that I didn’t like and passed on to her.  It really resonated with me because this is the kind of mother that she has always been.

Around 22 years ago, my family immigrated from South Korea to Washington state.  My parents left everything they knew behind in order to secure a brighter future for me and my older brother.  They worked hard to provide us with everything that we needed and to set us up for a successful future. Can you imagine how scary and difficult it must have been to leave your home country behind to a foreign place where you were a complete outsider?  You don’t understand what people are saying to you, you can’t speak the language and because of that, people look down on you and think you are not educated.  On top of that, imagine having a family to support and take care of!  In order to provide for our family, my mother never spent tons of money on herself. And now that I’m older, I’m able to really appreciate her sacrificial love.

SO! Now that I’m a working woman, I want to bless bless bless my beautyfull mama! After having dinner out with my parents today, I decided to taking my mama shopping for some new makeup.  I noticed that she was almost out of eyeshadow so that was our main focus.   Here is what she ended up choosing.

MAC Mini Shader Brush #228

My mama loves blue eyeshadows so I think she’s pretty happy with her new picks.  She has beautyfull eyes with very large double eyelids (I must have taken after my dad, haha).  I also picked up a couple things for myself as well.. hehe.

I stopped by a Korean makeup store and got this lipgloss.  I’ve never heard of the brand, but I’m really  liking it!  It’s a pale pink (almost clear) with gold shimmers/sparkles.  It’s really sparkly and I think it looks good alone or over any lipstick.

I also got a new eyeshadow from NARS.  I have very high expectations from this beautiful neutral color! So far, I’m thinking this might become my new everyday go-to eyeshadow.

I really hope that you can take a moment to reflect on the people in your life.  Whether it be your mom, your dad, your best friend, your school teacher, just take a minute to be thankful.  And now, it’s your turn!  You were loved so that you could love others back.  Let’s spread the love, even to those that the world deems unworthy.  I encourage you to be beautyfull from the inside out… <3

Update :)

Hi all!

So the past week was super busy with family visiting from out of town. Yesterday, I did the Pike Place Market food tour and let me tell you, it was AMAZING! I highly recommend it for those of you who are visiting Seattle.  I love the Pike Place Market and visit it frequently but because of this tour I learned a lot of new historical facts and also got to try delicious foods that I had never tried before!  My favorite was the Seafood Bisque served at Pike Place Chowder.  Pike Place Chowder is most known (obviously) for their prize winning clam chowder.  That was definitely yummy too.

Anyway, this week will not be as hectic as the last and I will have more time to post post post.  Oh, one more thing: I’ll be holding a GIVE AWAY CONTEST very soon!  So stay tuned!!

Comparison of the Greens | Humid vs Golden Olive vs Mildew

Hi all!  First of all, Happy Mother’s Day!  I hope you got a chance to tell your mother that she is BEAUTYFULL and that you love her!

So today, I just wanted to take a moment to show you guys a comparison between a few different green eyeshadow that I have.  Since I’m more of a neutral girl, I find that I don’t use my greens very regularly.  But when I do use it, I love it.  It’s such a fun way to spice up a look.

Here are my two other green eyeshadows. My third green shadow is from my Urban Decay Urban Ammo Eye Palette.

On the left is MAC’s Humid, the right is MAC’s Golden Olive pigment

Here is a swatch of the three.

Urban Decay Mildew | MAC Humid | MAC Golden Olive Pigment

rsz img 0499 300x225 Comparison of the Greens | Humid vs Golden Olive vs Mildew

Between the three, I prefer MAC Humid.  It’s a forest green and not as shimmery as the other two.  I think the Golden Olive pigment is pretty but since I’m not used to using pigments, it takes me longer to apply.

Do you have a favorite green eyeshadow? Let me know! icon smile Comparison of the Greens | Humid vs Golden Olive vs Mildew

Urban Ammo Eye Palette Review

Hi Hi! I hope your Thursday is going BEAUTYFULLY!  Today, I want to show you Urban Decay’s Urban Ammo Eye Palette.  I’ve had this palette for a very long time, as you can probably tell by the worn down case.  It’s actually one of the first purchases that I had ever made at Sephora.  The reason I chose this was that I wanted to test out a variety of color and for some reason I was really into glitter at that time. Ah, the days of my youth, haha.

Urban Decay Urban Ammo Eye Palette | $36

rsz img 0459 300x225 Urban Ammo Eye Palette Review

rsz img 0457 300x225 Urban Ammo Eye Palette Review

As you can see, you get 10 different colors!  I still think this is a good starter eyeshadow palette if you want to experiment with lots of different colors and don’t mind glitter.  It’s a great sampler for Urban Decay shadows.  Here are the swatches.

Smog | Mildew | Oil Slick | Last Call | Chopper

rsz img 0467 300x225 Urban Ammo Eye Palette Review

Maui Wowie | Shattered | Polyester Bride | Grifter | Sin

rsz img 0470 300x225 Urban Ammo Eye Palette Review

Honestly, some of these eyeshadows are way too glittery for me and I find that throughout the day the glitter chunks will fall everywhere onto my face. My all time favorite shadow is Sin.  I think it’s Urban Decay’s version of Stila’s Kitten or MAC’s Naked Lunch except it has a slightly more tan base.  Smog is also a nice color that shimmers and does not contain glitter chunks.  Oh you know?  This is perfect for those of you who like to enjoy the night life!  The dance lights will reflect off the glitter making your eyes sparkle!

Tomorrow I’m heading over to the MAC store after work to pick up some new eyeshadows.  I’m hoping to find a pretty and wearable pink eyeshadow and some more neutral colors.  I’ll let you know what I grab.

I hope you found this helpful!  Have a beautyfull night everyone! <3

The Quest for the perfect oil controlling product | Part I

*nervous fidgeting and awkward cough*

I suffer from oily skin.

(T__T)

It’s embarrassing. I need to constantly blot throughout the day or I turn extremely shiny.  To cope, I’ve been using blotting powder and blotting tissue (aka toilet seat covers and Starbucks napkins).  But these all are not taking care of the root cause.  I need something that’ll PREVENT!  So this is what I’m going to do. I will be blogging about my journey through different oil controlling products until I find the one that will actually help prevent getting oily throughout the day.  If I can help just one other person with this (besides myself!), then it will have been worth it. (^__^) Let me know if that’s you!!!

The first product that I have tried is the Bare Escentuals Prime Time Oil Control Foundation Primer.  The Sephora lady told me that it was the best oil controlling product that they have in the store.  I was slightly skeptical because I already own the original Prime Time Foundation Primer and am not impressed (barely use it) BUT I decided to give it a go and bought it.  Well, I tried it for two days now and find that I still have to blot throughout the day.  It might be helping a teeny bit but ultimately it is not doing what it claims to do.

Here is my comparison between the two.

Bare Escentuals Prime Time Foundation Primer

rsz img 0676 225x300 The Quest for the perfect oil controlling product | Part I

The original Prime Time Foundation Primer is clear and has a thicker consistency (I’m thinking silicon).  Once you apply it, it leaves yours skin feeling powdery.  It’s quite strange… I’m not a fan but it does leave your face very smooth. It doesn’t make enough of a difference for me to spend that extra minute or two applying it in the morning.

Bare Escentuals Prime Time Oil Control Foundation Primer

rsz img 0675 225x300 The Quest for the perfect oil controlling product | Part I

The Prime Time Oil Control Foundation Primer is also clear but is more water based and leaves your skin like you had just applied moisturizer on it.  You need to be careful to fully let it dry or it may peel while you are applying foundation.  After about 3-4 hours, I was a hot mess and had to blot.  Fail.

Swatch: Original on left | Oil Control on right

rsz img 0680 300x225 The Quest for the perfect oil controlling product | Part I

Neither have a distinct smell.  Both cost $21 each.  It’s not that I feel like these are bad products… they did not cause me to break out like some other primers do *cough* smashbox photofinish primer *cough*.  I’m just not impressed and feel that I can do better… haha.

So the quest continues.  Do you have any oil control products that you would recommend?  Have you tried the Bare Escentuals Prime Time Oil Control Foundation Primer?  Let me know~

A BEAUTYFULL adventure begins.. <3

UPDATE: YIKES! By the way, I did a swatch on my hand and have been typing for about… 30 minutes?  I just looked down at my hand on the oil control side and it’s PEELING!! GROSS!

Benefit Cosmetics Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner

If you’ve been following my blog, you know that I’m a total sucker for packaging. And that was the reason why I knew that I had to get one of these Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liners.  It comes in a glass pot with a beautiful black lid with white doves.  It’s so pretty that I must have thought that just by owning this I would be feel prettier, haha.

rsz img 0445 300x225 Benefit Cosmetics Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner

I have Birthday Suit (brushed chrome) and Skinny Jeans (pretty pewter).

rsz img 0446 300x225 Benefit Cosmetics Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner

rsz img 0456 300x245 Benefit Cosmetics Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner

Birthday Suit | Skinny Jeans

I used Birthday Suit almost daily when I first got it.  It’s beautiful under another bronze/brown shadow.  I find that if I wear it alone, it tends to crease after a few hours.  With powder eyeshadow over it, it lasts longer.  A couple downers are that it smells unpleasant (kind of like play-doh) and the consistency is not as smooth as MAC’s paint pots.  So here is what I think: for any cream shadow/primer, I’ll stick with MAC.  It’s cheaper and better quality.  If I find a particular Benefit shade that I really like, then I’ll get it (like Birthday Suit). icon smile Benefit Cosmetics Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner

I hope this was helpful! Please let me know if you have any questions.  Have a BEAUTYFULL Monday!

Benefit Cosmetics Full Finish Lipstick in Lady’s Choice

Hi guys!

Sorry I’ve been MIA this week!  I can’t believe my last post was on Monday! I’ve spent some time going through other beauty/fashion blogs and realize that I really appreciate the ones with good pictures.  My favorite pictures are the FOTDs (face of the day), OOTDs (outfit of the day) and swatches.  In particular, the swatches help me figure out which products I want to try out for myself.  SO, where am I going with all this?  I’ve decided to spend some time posting swatches of the makeup that I currently own.  I hope that it’s helpful for you guys when you decide to go shopping (especially when it’s online!).

Today’s swatch will be of Benefit Cosmetics Full Finish Lipstick in Lady’s Choice.  This is a darker nude color and I feel that it gives me a more “grown-up” look.  If you’re new to nude lips, this might be a good one to start with. The texture of the lipstick is lovely! Extremely smooth and moisturizing.

Hope you have a beautyfull weekend!
